So, lately I've been a lot more active than I have been and it has motivated me to choose healthier snacks and meals throughout my week. Of course, I still have a few treats now and then. This also doesn't necessarily means that I deprive myself of anything tasty. It's okay to have a serving of chips once in a while or some pizza (my weakness.) It's so important to have balance in your diet and to make sure you move every day!
I looked up a lot of different healthy smoothies on Pinterest, which you can follow me on (link is on my Home page as well as my Contact page of this blog. In the end I decided to try this smoothie out and it was delicious! It's also very flexible when it comes to ingredients, it pretty much just guides you on serving amounts. Now I'll go ahead what I put into my very yummy smoothie, perfect for a snack on a hot summer day!
~ half a cup of blueberries
~ 6 strawberries
~ 1 cup of milk
~ about 2 handfuls of spinach
~ half a tablespoon of honey
~ half a teaspoon of cinnamon
~ 2 tablespoons of chia seeds
~handful of ice cubes
You can also add in a quarter cup of yogurt, sliced frozen bananas, or fresh avocado to make it a bit more creamy. Feel free to substitute these ingredients with others. For example you can use raspberries instead of blueberries, iced green tea or juice instead of a milk, or kale instead of spinach. It's all very dependent on what you prefer or how adventurous you feel :) Great energy boosters include chia seeds, flax seeds, acai powder, ground nuts, oats, and others. Have fun with it and blend it all up for a refreshing and tasty smoothie!
