This is something I have been wanting to write about on my blog for a while now. I believe that feeding your spirit is just as important as feeding your body. Whatever you're feeding your spirit is inevitably going to come out in your everyday life. Good or bad, right or wrong, encouraging or negative, healthy or unhealthy; it is molding you and changing your heart. Trust me, I've seen the positive and negative consequences of feeding my spirit things I should have never even been in contact with, and I have seen the benefits of feeding myself Godly things and positivity.
Our spirit is constantly being fed every day of our life through the music we listen to, movies/tv we watch, the people we are surrounding our self with, who we follow on social media, etc. When it comes down to it, we ultimately have the say in what we are allowing into our lives and spirits through all of these things.
Society and media tries to feed so much anxiety, fear, negativity, unhealthy self-images, and false definitions of what "beauty" really means in American culture. We need to do everything we can to shift this 'spirit food' in another direction and stop waiting for society and others to feed us. We need to be in charge of our self and feed our spirit what it needs to live a happier and overall healthier life.
I'll also say that, I completely believe what your are allowing to enter into your heart, is or will show up in your life whether it's right now or later. But it will eventually surface. I know I always try my best to be conscious of what I'm watching, the conversations that people are having around me, and definitely who I follow on social media. I just want to encourage you to surround yourself and fill yourself with things that will benefit you and not drag you down or hinder you from living the life you are meant to live. I have made the mistake so many times of allowing inappropriate, negative, self-damaging things, music, and people into my life and it only dug me deeper into a hole that I had to fight harder to get out of. These small things have an enormous impact on our life in such a heavy way. This doesn't have to be a dramatic life change, but I do recommend a self-evaluation of what you are letting into your heart.
What are you feeding your spirit?
